Overview
Unhuman in Poltu Quatu, Malisa Catalani

Curated by SimonBart Gallery

SimonBart Gallery _  Loc. Poltu Quatu - 07021 Arzachena (SS)

Set against the evocative backdrop of Poltu Quatu, nestled between the landscapes of Sardinia and the Mediterranean Sea, SimonBart Gallery presents a new and exclusive edition of UNHUMAN, the solo exhibition by Italian artist Malisa Catalani, inaugurated on Sunday, 26 July at 7:00 pm.

Following its remarkable critical and public success in Bologna during Art City 2026, the exhibition returns in a renewed format, featuring a new selection of sculptures alongside an original collection of artist's jewellery, further expanding Malisa Catalani's artistic research through new expressive languages.

UNHUMAN explores the female body as a site of transformation and the transcendence of fixed identity. Rooted in the classical tradition, Catalani's sculptures move beyond its ideals of harmony through fractures, absences and material tensions. The body, once conceived as a complete and closed form, becomes a presence in constant evolution, shaped by time and by forces that continually redefine its identity.

The project engages with posthuman discourse, proposing identity as an open and ever-evolving process. In this new edition, the setting of Poltu Quatu becomes an integral part of the exhibition experience: the Mediterranean light and landscape accompany the exhibition journey, offering a renewed perspective on the poetics of UNHUMAN.
