SimonBart Gallery _ Piazza Cavour 6/E - 40124 Bologna

Opening: 25th January 2025 – 18:00

The SimonBart Gallery presents Tempoforma, an exhibition project by the Italian artist Umberto Ciceri. The show will open on 25th January 2025 at 18:00 at the gallery’s main location in Bologna, Piazza Cavour 6. The event is part of the ART CITY Bologna 2025 program.

The exhibition features a central body of 59 works that represent Umberto Ciceri's artistic exploration, and it exclusively unveils the artist's first-ever sculpture.

Tempoforma consists of a display of rhythmic works that lead the audience on an extraordinary perceptual and emotional dance. The exhibition path guides visitors through a measured progression, a journey that plays with optical reflection and individual introspection.

"Tempoforma is walking the artwork when light, space, time, and observation coincide."

Ciceri aims to engage the spectator, as the works come to life and glow with “phantom colors,” creating a neurological and emotional involvement of perceptual thresholds and optical interference. The subjects, both abstract and figurative, dissolve and recompose themselves, transforming as the space changes, as the viewer decides to pause or resume this revolution of image and body. Observer and observed subject are interdependent: “the artwork, therefore, comes to life in the encounter,” a dialogue that invites viewers to shed rational perceptual structures and view the world with new eyes and a new sense of time.

During the opening event, to accompany the dance that involves spectators and exhibited works, there will be a performance by musician Agata Pace, who will perform Igor Stravinsky’s Third Piece for Solo Clarinet.
