Biography

Enrico Baj was born in 1924 in Milan and showed a strong interest in the visual arts and experimental art from an early age.
After studying at the Accademia di Brera, he emerged as a leading figure of postwar Italian art, developing an original language that combines irony, social critique, and formal experimentation.
His research focused on collage, painting, and sculpture, producing works characterized by eccentric compositions, vivid colors, and often grotesque or symbolic figures. Baj addressed political, cultural, and philosophical themes, using art as a means of communication and social critique.
Throughout his career he gained international recognition, participating in major exhibitions, biennials, and events. His ability to combine aesthetic experimentation with social engagement made him a key figure in Italian contemporary art.
