Biography
Michelino Iorizzo was born in Rome in 1971. After he graduated from the Art School, in 1993 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. This is followed by a period of private teaching in Italy and abroad, in particular in oriental art academies (Hubei University, China). From abstract-figurative landscapes, he continues his artistic research dedicating himself to female portraits. Mysterious, sometimes dreamy and melancholy, the faces portrayed by Iorizzo actually exist only in his imagination, in the memory of a fleeting encounter or in the most hidden dreams of the artist. Iorizzo digs into the pictorial material, corrodes the surface, leaving a patina of antiquity emerging on each face that binds it to the past. He had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy, China, Korea, Greece, USA. Some of his works are in permanent collections of Italian and foreign museums. His work has also been appreciated in the film industry, taking part in several successful films and TV series such as Napoli Velata by Ferzan Özpetek, Romanzo Criminale – La Serie by Stefano Sollima and others.
